I had the same thing happen with my front tires. I was having the venturi system recall done on my '08 and while the truck was at the dealer, I was having the front tires turned inside to outside for the same reason Guardrail did. Got the truck back and the next day I was washing it by hand as usual. I noticed that the passenger side rim (dually aluminum wheel) had 2 very deep gouges in it.
Needless to say, I was very upset as this is a dealer I have used for many years and bought 4 trucks from. Took it to the service manager that I always use and he said they'll take care of it - even gave me a loaner car for free. He said that they have a company that takes care of damaged aluminum rims. I agreed. Called me the next day and said that the rims have a plastic coating and are not repairable. I told him to replace the rim. He said that he couldn't do that for me but instead had already done a Nitro-fill on all 6 tires for free.
There was no way I was gonna live with a nasty looking rim. I went to the dealership's customer relations manager (I've known him for years as I have worked with his wife for 22 years now) and we went to the service dept. He asked why the dealership isn't replacing the rim. Svc. manager said that the rims were over $700 each and they couldn't do that. I said that's not true. I could get one online at powerstrokeshop.com or whatever for about $300 and that's a retail price. CRM asked if this was true and the svc. manager said that he didn't actually look up the price - this was just recollection.
Anyhow, I got a new rim installed on the truck to replace the damaged one and I got a handwashed truck and vacuumed interior. And I also got an apology.
Sorry for the long story.
