What we're currently seeing is the inevitable result of ignoring Fram's warning, "You can pay me now, or you can pay me later."
We cut back on college funding; now young doctors can't afford to practice primary care. We let public hospitals be privatized; now we're short of beds and prices are rising. We allow drug advertising on television and gave away patent rights to drugs researched & developed with NIH money; now the drug corporations rake in billions which could have been allocated to patient care. We allow corporations to make campaign contributions; now members of Congress work for the insurance cartel instead of constituents.
