Just suffered through this a couple of months ago. With my old (rip) engine, i never had a cps issue. Never. Swapped over the ol trusty cps and entire wiring harness into the new engine and toasted my 15 year old cps on her maiden voyage. Threw numerous cps's at this thing over the course of 2-4 weeks, including IH sensors and a Superduty cps as well (gold contacts, white in color). Turned out, after a ride home on a roll-back, and I just about had enough of this crap, one of the 3 wires, i think pin C, was broken inside the connector and was making intermittent contact. My truck would not act up when cold, only after it warmed up. With that said, disconnect your cps and measure ground/dcv at the pins while wiggling the connector/backshell/wires and see what happens. Pin A to ground key off, pin B .5vdc koeo and pin C 12vdc koeo. If this is your problem, i will provide you with a cps connector/pig tail repair kit part number from FoMoCo.
Good luck..
