Spring Codes
Spring code weight ratings for 2009 and later seem to be secret. I tried to get them for a week without success. There's nothing on the internet. The parts guys at two dealerships said they can order replacements, but can't see the ratings because DOT doesn't want guys like me modifying our suspensions and exceeding the GVWR. The owner of a 50-year old spring shop said the same thing.
I called Ford with my VIN and was told that my spring rate is 247 pounds per inch. That makes some sense. At max cargo capacity the back would squat 4.7 inches. It's 4.0 inches to the bump stop.
I'd still like to see the weight ratings by spring code if anyone can find it.
