The cetane ratings will vary greatly from state to state and region to region. Here, people think 40 cetane is good! LOL! I used to get 45-50 cetane all the time in Blacksburg, VA....higher elevation and colder. This was for my old 1988 F250 7.3L IDI. It got much better mileage with fuel from there. it was the fuel, not the elevation that mattered. I would fill up both tanks and not touch the rear one until I was home. And that tank would get 2-3 mpg better than the local fuel while driving the same roads!
People notice this with gasoline, but not because of the octane, but the oxygenated fuel. I know more and more places are selling oxygenated fuel (maybe everywhere now?) and 10% ethanol. But if you fill up a gasser with the non-reformulated (non-oxygenated) fuel the vehicle gets better fuel mileage....on a consistant basis.
All this crap that is "better for the environment" gives us less mpg, so we use more fuel.....yeah, that's better somehow!?
Sorry for the rant at the end. I like trees, but I'm not going to hug one.....maybe cut it down and use it for wood, but not hug it!
