Not sure with the EGR cooler, but if you're getting white smoke and you've had to add coolant, you are sending coolant through the exhaust. Possibly a head gasket leak which is alowing coolant to enter the cylinder. I am no Ford mechanic so this may be worst case senerio. Has it been hard to start lately or especially when you see the white smoke? do you see any oil in the degas bottle? is there any water in the crakecase oil?
