Exclamation "HELP" with a 4:10 "REGULAR AXLE"

tired of getting stuck in wet fields!!! ive used the search engine on the site and still am a little confused... my truck (1997 f250 psd) has a 4:10 regular axle, or at least it says so on my invoice.. my question is, what exactly do i need to make this thing have traction? can i buy a new clutch kit? do i need to buy a locker? and what the hell is a "regular axle"? and btw, i do snow removal with this vehicle.....
thanks alot
