Check fuse # 30 to make sure it's not blown. Also check the main engine wiring harness (big harness with red striped tape over the drivers valve cover) to make sure you don't have any wires shorting against the valve cover below the 42 pin connector or wires behind the connector shorting against the metal bracket.
In the future, if the WTS ligth does not come on, don't waste the battery juice trying to start the truck. Just turn the key back off and see if the WTS light comes on next time. If the WTS light does not come on, the truck will probably not start.
