Hi-Idle Mod

A buddy of mine has a very similar truck to my own, minus the mods, his is stock except for the DIY Tymar, and he wants to wire in a Hi-Idle switch. I have a 6 position chip with the Hi-Idle mode built in. My brother wired a switch into his 6.0 to get Hi-idle and I had assumed we could do the same with the 7.3. all he had to do was find the wires under the dash and hook up a switch. I searched the forums and found the mod including a couple potentiometers and some fairly intricate wiring. Is this (and the stealerships factory Hi-idle box) our only option. I figured it would be simpler.
