General suggestion (not directed to you). I have a cab rack. I love it. It's saved my bacon countless times. It will add rigidity to the bed, but if the stuff you're hauling is not tall enough to clear the lip of the bed, you still may have that issue with shifting loads causing damage to the bed. Otherwise, it does a great job of ensuring that the cab is protected and adding rigidity to the bed. Fix the bed. Then future future hauling, place the load up towards the head of the bed and then use a combination of your stakepockets and anchors to secure your load. If you've got the cab rack, you can use that as well.
