Bio-D is actually HARDER to burn than regular Diesel. Its considered NON-Hazardous waste. You can DRINK IT and its only effect is as a laxative, and its toxicity is 10 times less than TABLE SALT!
Oh, and its easier to make that you think.
You only need 15%-20% methanol by volume, so If you make 100 gallons of Bio-D a month, you only need about 15-20 gallons of Methanol. I know guys that burn that much methanol in just a couple of races in a night at the drags!
The only thing hazardous about making Bio-D is being sloppy and stupid. If you spill the Methoxide stuff on your clothes and dont get it off quickly, you will get what is effectively a very bad sunburn.
Finished product is harmless. and i mean dump it into the sewer harmless.
If your making LARGE batches, it might be worth the effort to recover your Methanol via Distillation. That way, you can re-use your methanol on later batches, thus decreasing your supply cost even more!
