Re: micron rating of a coffee filter and stock filter?
IIRC, the stock filter for a 6.9 or 7.3 liter IDI is 12 microns.
The CAT High Efficiency filters remove over 98% of all particles 2 microns or larger.
The CAT 1R-0750 filter for the 3116/3304/3306/3204/3208 engines retails for less than $11.00 at the local CAT dealer.
The FRAM filter for my 7.3 IDI is around $27.00 at Checker.
I'm seriously considering converting my IDI over to the CAT filter.
