I am replacing my power steering pump and I have no clue how to get the pulley off or back on. Apparently there is a puller needed? Can anybody help me out here.
Yes - they pulley comes off with a puller which can be rented from any Autozone. The pulley gets pressed back on using the threads in the center of the shaft and the tool. The pulley should only be pulled off and pushed on twice before it needs to be replaced.
You mean a big hammer isn't involved?
Yes, the puller has a slot in it that engages the lip on the hub. A bolt then pushes on the shaft to pull the pulley off. To reinstall, a rod is threaded into the shaft and a thick spacer and nut are used to press it on.
