Re: PS2000 Finished
Alright, this has been a good day, I wanted to mess around with the settings on the system, because I wasn't really feeling too much in the way of power, and after the other stories of other guys saying they can feel the propane, I thought maybe something was wrong. So I called Keith at PowerShot and he walked me through my set up and wham, I had the LPG hooked up wrong. I had it hooked into the intake chamber. Well, little did I know, it has to be pumped into the intake, BEFORE the turbo, so I drilled and tapped another hole. Plumbed it up, and drove and WOW oh WOW. You guys have no idea what you are missing. I know you guys are sick of the "seat of the pants" saying, but I would say, once mine hits at 3lbs, which is was factory set for (asked Keith when I was on the phone with him today) I thought it was higher in the boost range. But when you hit 3lbs, it just pretty much climbs to 10psi FAST. It is like getting a huge tailwind and throwin the truck forward. It is awesome. Now the bad news, If I push it past 7psi, it starts hammering, not really hard, but enough to make me back out of after a few seconds. I did a few runs with it up some more hills, but due to the hammering, I backed out. So, as it stands tomorrow, I will keep reatrding the timing until I get it right.
I am not sure how much light hammering is acceptable, so I want to minimize it, (PS, Ken if you are there, please chime in). I will back it off a 1/16 or so until it clears up. I know I will lose some of my bottom end, but with 4.56's and the turbo, I don't really have much trouble getting rolling. So you timing and propane guys, chime in and let me know the best way to skin this beast. Man, if I can get this run hammer free all the way through the boost range, it will be a force to be reckoned with, I think it really takes the trucks to a whole new level.
I was getting some propane before, just really not a whole lot, which does say something, it was still helping, but just not near what it could have. Now it is plumbed in correctly, it is AWESOME. Well, hopefully the dyno will show me what kind of difference we can expect, but I would say an easy 75ftlbs now and probably more along the lines of 100-150Ftlbs. Well, hope to hear from you guys tomorrow, since I will go to work in the morning and scam out and try to start the IP timing. Shouldn't be too bad.. Scotty
