Re: question about mudflaps and splash guards
The terms seem to be used interchangeably by the manufacturers. This is what I would call a <font color="red"> Mud Flap </font> , and is what I installed on my Excursion. The stainless steel is just for looks, and if I had it do to over I would re-think that as they are really hard to keep looking nice in snow/slop country. Not so bad in the summer. These can also be a bit of a pain to install as there are no guides or patterns to follow. But you can also put them where you want. I have mine a little low, but it looks OK and really keeps the slop off of the bottom of the truck. Overall, I am really plesed with them.
This is what I would call a <font color="red"> Splash/Mud Guard </font> . These are easier to install, but you have no adjustment room as far as having them lower or wider in a spot.
Other manufacturers have the terms reversed or call them something else.
