Re: emergency vehicle lighting

Dick,

Welcome aboard!

LED's are the only way to go! They cost more initially, but will cost less in the long run. You should never have to "re-lamp" an LED.

For my 2005, I have a Whelen Talon 2 in the back window. I also have a pair of Whelen TIR 3's and TIR 6's in the back window. All are mounted on a piece of aluminum suspended from the headliner. I have the privacy glass in my truck, so when the LED's are off, nothing is visible from the outside of the truck.

I also have a pair of Whelen 400 and 500 series LED mounted in custom brackets on top of my tool box. The 400 series are auxilliry stop/tail/turn lights amd are tied into my brake light flasher. The 500 series flash independently when powered.

For the front of my truck, I strobed out the headlight and marker lights. All clear strobe tubes. I use a Whelen power supply and it's got variable patterns, so when the strobes are on, it's very eye catching.

I also have a pair of 500 series LED's in the grill, and a Whelen quad Dominator mounted to the push bar. This little lightbar is extremely bright!

And for noise, I have a Whelen 200 watt siren with two Whelen speakers mounted in front of the front tires.

Did I write that I'm a HUGE fan of Whelen products?

Their customer service is 2nd to NONE! And they are very generous to local fire departments near where I live and work.

eBay occasionally has Whelen products for OK prices, but I've found the best prices on www.sirennet.com

Hope this helps.

Marc
