The 4R100 transmission has a external fluid bypass for cold operation on the side of the transmission where the cooler lines attach. When the transmission is cold no fluid goes through the cooler lines or coolers ,it's bypassed. When you remove the line and run it cold it will shoot out of the rear port and by the time you notice it you will have many quarts of fluid on the ground and none in your recovery bucket. It can happen in any climate areas. Hope this makes sense.
