Accelerating differences

When at 65 MPH or so my truck doesn't seem to move up to 90 or so with a WOT nearly as fast as it does if you are starting from a stand still or a slower speed and then go WOT. What is the difference with the tranny and TC? Anyone elses seem to do better from a slower speed then it does from a faster speed??
