Just pull straight up on it and it will come loose but it is hard. I am not sure how long air filter is supposed to last but many on here claim that they changed theirs shortly after 25,000 and saw a increase in fuel mileage. Air filter gage is for decoration only, have not heard of anyone have their show filter is clogged.
