As the piston, rod assembly passes over TDC, they change direction of travel rather abruptly. My eyes bugged out as I read that too. That's a lot of rotating mass to spin at 8000 RPM. I've probably got over $3000 just in high end crank, rod's pistons etc. (not to mention the balancing and assembly and all the machine work that it takes to put one together right) in my boat motor (540 cid) but I'd never think of spinning it up to 8000 RPM and it's less than 10:1 compression and I'm sure much less weight. 6000 RPM maybe but not for long and its build to turn about 5200-5400 peak. I'd like it to last just as I would my "diesel" truck motor. [img]/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif[/img]
