Re: Slow/Jumping Speedometer
Get yourself an inspection mirror and a bright flaslight and crawl under the beast. remove the cable and gear from the transfer case and have yourself a peak down the hole that the gear came out of...You should see a yellow gear on a shaft. The yellow gear should be totally visible, and not offset in the hole. Stick your finger in the hole and feel the yellow gear. Note things like how the teeth feel...are they arounded off etc? If that all looks good take the gear off of your cable inspect it...look down inside of it where the cable sticks into the gear...is the square hole rounded out, making it not grab all the time? If that all looks good, put a drill on the cable and run it in reverse...make sure you can see your speedo or have someone with you who can look at if...if the speedo still registers wrong your are down to 2 things, crappy cable, or bad speedo head. Good luck.
