Approximate cost per gallon of biodiesel is around $1, but this does not include your time, fuel expense and wear and tear of car/truck driving around collecting oil and supplies. For many of us, it is a hobby rather than a way to make or save a lot of money. Biodiesel smells better, it's better for the environment and has a great friendly community of home brewers.
Setting up your processor costs the most ($75 on up), mine cost about $250 for materials and slightly used water heater. Another $30 to build my washtank.
