Re: Loss of injectors when cold
BfricknC,
First and foremost, I am not trying to "badmouth" you for running the Edge. I myself want to get a programmer for mine, but I just haven't got around to re-directing the funds to do so yet. As you have probably already read many times over, Ford's consensus on aftermarket devices for the 6.0 is very cut and dry, especially with power enhancing electronics. I really don't know how Ford (or anyone) could say that the Edge caused your problem. I personally would fight this one, but that's just me. This is the first that I've heard of a FICM going bad b/c of added electronics. I'm not advocating power enhancing devices here, but I'd say that the Edge was not at fault. I just don't believe you should have to pay for this instance. It's a bummer for you to have to come up with that kind of money for something, IMHO, that isn't the direct cause of your failure. In my opinion, Ford (not a dealership) should have to prove that the Edge fried the FICM before they can say it's on your nickel. I know you don't want any opinions, but this truely sounds like you got taken to the cleaners. If somehow the Edge overloaded the FICM with enough current to have burned it up (with hardcore proof from Ford or someone), then yes, it should be your responsibility. I think this was just one of those freak coincidents. Good luck with everything, and I hope it doesn't happen again.
