Using synthetic on an old engine with high miles can unleash all kinds of problems. What is the viscosity of the blend..... it could be too thin. I would drain and save the blended oil, put 30Wt diesel oil in it and see if the noise subsides at all over a couple days. If not then further investigation ie rocker cover removal to locate the offensive lifter/rocker/push rod(s).
