Re: new noise that i can't trace
That's how mine started over a month ago. Never on a cold engine either. Did not get progressively worse either. I was beginning to think I was having dual-mass flywheel problems or maybe clutch related. Parked in driveway one evening after picking it from Ford dealer, it sat at the dealer for 7 days. Dealer verified noise when I dropped it off, but never could get it to do this again. I suppose because they were not getting it warm enough. Long story short, The morning after I parked it, got in it, fired it up and it ran ran for a few seconds before dying. It never started again. Goosenecked it to another dealer, they tore into it slowly, and on the third day called me and said they were orderring a shortblock for it. A lifter was the cause of this problem. I'm starting to hear of quite a few 6.0's with this problem. Four other trucks over at The Diesel Garage.
