03 6.0l Excursion Cold Start Power Concerns

Hi everyone, I am new to this site. I didn't see a place to introduce myself before my first post so let me do that along with my questions. I am an active member of vrodforums.com. I know everything there is to know about Harley-Davidson v-rods. I know vrodforums is a great site for newbies to find out more about their bike then they ever could through dealers, magazines....etc. I am hoping this site is like that with my new Excusrion.

I just bought a 03 Excursion 6.0l down in Houston over the weekend and drove me and the family home to KC. It has 113,000 and I paid $21,500. I know some of you guys have posted over and over problems with certain vehicles, just like I have with newbies to the v-rod site, so please bare with me.

I already did a search and found that the extremely warped rotors are a common problem with the Excursions so i will deal with that. I have a 1991 natural aspirated 7.3 1 ton truck annd just had a 01 7.3l. This is my first 6.0l and it is the wifes that we are replac`ing the expidition with. He is my problem. No codes, no faults. When we start the excusrion cold the glow plug light goes off in like 1 second. I am used to a few second on the 7.3's is that right. The only reason I question it is because it runs like crap and has no balls until it get warm in 2-3 minutes. I mean it will barely pull itself up the street. It does start right up after 1-2 second of turning over. After it is warm I am presently surpised with the power. No smoke during the cold time either. I am used to seeing the old 7.3 dim the headlights from what I assume to be heating the glow plugs for the first couple minutes until the motor is warm. Is this condition common? WHat is it. I have many other questions to bug you guys with, but this is my big concern. Sorry for the first post novel and I appreciate any help.

Thanks,
Ray
