Re: Maybe I'm a believer

UPDATE: In the last couple of days, gasoline in my area has dropped from $2.89-$2.95 gallon down to as low as $2.61. Diesel dropped from $2.89 down to $2.85. Why?
Yes, I think it is collusion. I think the price drop that we are seeing could (maybe) be fallout from the ALL of the oil companies posting record, record, record (did I say record?) profits and maybe bringing the price of fuel back in line with what it should be. I also believe that oil companies push fuel prices up til we, the consumer, scream abbout it, then they back off a little. That is their new 'baseline' for fuel prices. After a while, they push it up a little more, til we scream and holler, then it slides back to a price that we are willing to accept. Do I like it? H*ll No! Tell me this: If no collusion, then why aren't oil companies clamoring all over themselves to spend the billions and billions of dollars in profit to get new refineries online to produce more fuel to capitalize on the new-found prices that they can get for said fuel? How is it that every year (at least for the past 7 that I've owned a diesel) every fall, the on-road diesel supply will dwindle to the point of a 'supply' problem (and prices creap up) so that diesel can be relabeled and sold as home heating fuel up north? And heaven forbid if there is a hurricane spinning out in the far Atlantic, or some refinery goes down for unscheduled maintenance.
