Seems that unless the fuel we put in is really really clean our injectors are on borrowed time anyway. If I run waste oil through a sub-micron filter and put in one gallon per tank I just can't see it causing problems. I could be wrong, but that's the way I see it.

Your math is a little off. There are 25400 microns per inch. Most fuel filters for diesel, at the engine, are 2 micron filters. Is it that the oil is hard to dispose of or is 3.75 gallons of old oil, worth about 12 bucks as fuel if that, financially important to burn as fuel every 5K miles?
