Back in 2002 I had Masthead Hose & Supply (who has locations in FL, GA, AL, SC, TX, IN) make me a HX hose with the proper hose and fittings and it worked great for about a week. Then while getting on I-295 in Jacksonville, FL one of the ends blew out of the fitting, spraying oil all over the engine compartment and shutting the truck down because of the oil loss and thankfully no fire. But do you think I should of sued Masthead? I went back to them and they apologized and made me a new one that has worked ever since. (They used the same hose and put on a new fitting.)
My point is stuff happens and nobody always knows the reason why. That is not the only Gen 3 pump Swamps has sold, but seems to be the only one that I have heard of doing this.
I'm am truly sorry for Magum 97 loss, but we all know that when we start modding things on our trucks there is always a chance of something going wrong.
