My 2000 Ex was missing the interior grab handle when I bought it. I got the handle and cover now but the dealer was unsure how it was attached.

Any help? Thanks!

So the boy and some friends were screwing around Saturday night (against the rules - they were supposed to be sleeping over) when he loses control on a dirt road. Went through a four inch steel pipe (concrete filled) and barbed wired fence, side swiped a tree, and ended up in the middle of a prickly-pear patch. Everybody is okay, shook up pretty good and grounded for life. I actually drove the truck home (after taking down another part of the barbed wire fence to get out of the field). We (one of the other dad's and I) made the boys repair the fence - in the middle of the night. They were very lucky, had they been in anything other than the big truck, or been about two feet to the left, there would have been the need for ambulances. As it is, the truck is torn up pretty good. Mostly body damage, the B pillar is bent pretty good. Drivers side doors (both) are toast. The front end and hood are toast. The cooling stack has been pushed back a bit, but is still fully functional. My front hitch took the brunt of the fence post impact and transferred the force to the frame - basically protecting from more damage, and distributing the forces into the frame. A few very lucky boys. It doesn't look that bad in this picture, but the B pillar is bent and both doors sprung.

I've got a Y2K-X with 180K on it....
I'm into my 5th set of batteries.....
The originals [FOMOCO's] lasted approximately 2 years.....Went to Florida, and had to replace them at Sam's Club, back in 2002....In 2005, they went again....Returned them to the Sam's Club in North Carolina, got new batteries, and got a refund..none the less....The newer batteries cost less than the older ones....
Well in 2007, was in Florida again, and the batteries were acting up,,Went to Sam's Club again... replaced the batteries....Can't remember if I had to pay any money or not....But they gave me all new batteries....
Well, here we are in 2009, and guess what,,, the batteries didn't have the cranking amps to turn over the 7.3, and they just anted up for a new set of batteries...The cost to me this time was $16.00..
So, bottom line, I purchased 2 batteries back in 2002, from Sam's Club, and they have replaced the both of them """ 3 """ times now....
Cost to me NIHL....
The current and last set were Energizers manufactured by Johnson Controls....
I don't know what, but these 7.3's just eat batteries....

P.S. I clean my battery terminals every 6 mos like clock work....
I know you need the cranking power for the beast...

I'm old, sold my boat, but am keeping my X even though I will never tow again. 89K miles on it. Problem is that it throws the wife around the cab on a bumpy road, she hates it and whines every time we go somewhere in it. Because of its range and carrying capacity we use it for 5-6 hr occasional trips.

What would it take to make an X ride like a Cadillac or is that even possible? The problem of hitting the bump stops also jars her and sets her off. Everything on the truck is stock. Shocks have never been changed nor the springs.

Could one of you knowledgeable spring and shock experts give me a hitlist of things to do to soften the ride for a strictly highway truck now?

Thanks.

Greetings! I have been trolling this site for years. Just have no had much time to post.

I am looking for a 7.3, limited, 4 x 4 with low miles. The ones I have found with low miles are typically 2002-2003 models. I found this one on ebay and it is perfect. Image: http://rover.ebay.com/ar/1/711-53200-19255-0/1?mpt=2017945972&adtype=1&size=1x1&type=3&campid=5336116750&toolid=10001 Ford : Excursion:eBay Motors (item 160377726026 end time Nov-19-09 11:14:11 PST) (http://rover.ebay.com/rover/1/711-53200-19255-0/1?type=3&campid=5336116750&toolid=10001&mpre=http%3A%2F%2Fcgi.ebay.com%2Febaymotors%2F2002-Ford-Excursion-Limited-4x4-7-3L-Diesel-LOW-MILES_W0QQitemZ160377726026QQcmdZViewItemQQptZUS_Cars_Trucks%3Fhash%3Ditem255741e44a%23vi-content)
However, KBB suggests that I pay around $19.5 rather than high 20s.
 						            Condition Image: http://file.kbb.com/kbb/images/wsr/nchub/whatsthis.gif Value
						 						     							    Excellent
 						  						 							 								$19,035
I might add, I'm in the military overseas so my money is tight and my time is even tighter so I don't want to waste it in the wrong place. Any information you can pass my way in regards to 7.3 Excursions, helpful hints, places to buy, and suggest prices are going to help me out alot. I know there are a ton of ones out there with 100k+ miles but we my wife and I would particularly like a low mileage one.

With that said, if you have one for sale and it's in great condition, let me know. :icon_wink:

Thanks and take care!

2001 Headlamp Switch Broke

2001 Headlamp Switch Broke today. Just broke where the plastic shaft joins at the knob.

Do I have to replace the entire assembly?

Or can I go to a used parts yard and hope to find a similar switch and just salvage the switch instead of the entire assembly?

How does the assembly come out of the dash?

Thanks in advance for the help.

220,000 miles and still going strong.
