Glow Plug Control Module

My check engine light came on about a week ago. I used my SCT to check what the problem was and after confirming the trouble code with my local diesel guy, he told me it was the Glow Plug Control Module. Ford's OEM replacement price was a little over $200 and O'relly's sells one for around $160. I'm trying to avoid the labor cost to swap them out by doing it myself, but I want to make sure I do it right.

The guy who does all the service on my truck showed me where it was and from what I can see it looks like a couple of connectors and some 10mm bolts I'd be working with. I'm wondering if this is all there is to it, or if I am overlooking something?

I'm also wondering if it matters if I buy the cheaper one from O'really's or if it needs to be from Ford?

The truck still starts and runs fine I'm just sick of having my check engine light on all the time and want to get this fixed before it gets really cold and starts giving me problems

First of all, Thank You for allowing me to register. I have been a long time fan of this website. You have helped me several times. Researching these trouble codes have not given me any clues that they could be related, so here I am. I have already ordered a new ICP sensor & harness. Will pick up on my way to work. Could the 2263 be related? Which problem would attack first? I have noticed some surging and engine noise going from the 6.0 clack to a quieting, as discribed in several other posts about the 2263. The ICP code was first MIL. I preformed the oil & filter change due. Then got thee 2263 code the next day. Thinking it may have been the oil change that set the code I cleared them and the came back.

Injector issues?

My 03 injectors were replaced about 90K miles ago, I have 186K now. I am now experiencing similar issues at start up when the ambient temp is below about 75 as I did when they went bad before. I have been reading up on replacing them myself and plan on having my truck scanned at Pensacola Fuel Injection beginning of next week. It is running rough on cold start up for a few seconds then clears up. The other thing I noticed is that when I rev the engine up to 3K-3500 in park there is a noticable miss that I do not notice driving under load. This would lead me to think injectors. My question is, am I leaning the right direction with the injectors? They will sell me 04.5 injectors that are completly rebuilt for 149.00 each. I also have purchased an EGR delete that I can do at the same time while I am tearing the top end apart. I do not mind how long it will take me to do it since I have spare vehicles to drive. I have read the process and it seems well within my realm of capabilities. Thoughts, comments, and suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

Oil Analysis for my 6.0

I used Blackstone Labs for my oil analysis. This was the first UOA for this truck. I am somewhat satisfied with how the truck is doing. The engine has 32,400 miles with 5,200 miles on the oil sample. Unfortunately, I was not able to resize it. If you click on the little bar it will get just big enough to read.

Here are the comments:
---Quote---
ROB: You were interested in fuel dilution and engine wear. No fuel was found in the first sample from your Ford. All
wear metals, except lead from bearings, read right around the universal averages for the 6.0L PSD. Lead at 9 ppm
either is a sign of some extra bearing wear or it's due to a particle streak through one of them. We'll know more after
we see your next sample. Oil viscosity was normal. No moisture or coolant was present in the sample. Air and oil
filtration (see silicon & insolubles) were normal. Other than lead, everything looks great. Check back to monitor.
---End Quote---

I was wiring up my high idle to one of my aux switches tonight and when I got done I noticed there was some fluid leaking out around a seal where the brake pedal piston goes through the firewall. It looks like some kind of seal but I'm not sure. I was wondering has anybody else had this happen to theres and if so how do I go about fixing it? I'm trying to keep from taking it to dealer to save some cash. The fluid has a red tint to it so I'm guessing its power steering fluid which runs the hydroboost?

altenator trouble 06 f 350 6.0 liter

I have an 2006 Ford F350 on my second engine, the replacement engine was a complete crate engine with about 40,000 miles on it currently. About a week ago my battery light started coming on every few minutes for a few minutes in duration each time. I took it to a national battery shop and they did an electrical test which showed output of the altenator at 11.8 volts (with both batteries connected) he then did a load test on the 11 month old batteries ( both still hooked electrically to the truck) and that test showed very good ( well I thought of course since normally one disconects the batteries) ....Everything seemed fine for the last few days except the light turning on here and there, now today the truck would not start (dead batteries) unhooked them and put them on my 10 amp charger for less than 40 minutes each till they showed a full charge... hooked them up and took off down the road and the truck shut down in 15 minutes....just after I lost all dash instruments. I then recharged the batteries and took out the altenator and had it bence tested. It tested good 3 times in a row with an outpur voltage of 14.8. I reinstalled the altenator and truck dies again in 15 minutes..... I did show some minor corrosion on one of the + battery terminals ( drivers side battery) also sime minor corrosion on 4ga leads off of each battery. I cleaned these and recharged and it died again in 15 minutes..... please help:sick:

Hope some one can help..3 days ago i changed my oil and fuel filter, it was time..started the truck to build oil pressure and cleaned up mess, truck died after 3-5 mins. tried all day to get it to run and nothing. woke up next morning and went out and got the truck to run after few hrs. it ran fine second day even took it on a trip 300 miles up and back. last few miles home it started sputtering or kinda like cutting out. got a few codes FIMC management performance and 1-8 injector low voltage. parked for nite and decided probaly needed new batteries. next day went out and bought 2 new batteries and installed..now 3 days later truck still won't start and only code i'm getting now is FIMC perfornace. It just turns over and over and does'nt even try to start..some friends think it's the o-ring on the high pressure oil pump..i'm not sure if that is it, i get fuel to top bowl onlt bout 1/2 full, but let it sit and the bowl goes empty..i know it's not the fule pump in the rail we swapped one outa a running truck and it made no difference...anyone have any ideas??? would be grately appreciated!
