I posed this in the diesel section but I want the gasser guys input as well!!

How are you guys liking the new trans??
This may be the same model # trans that was used in the 03's but from what i understand it has been revamped for the new 6.4.
I have been reading that is handles a fair amount 4-500hp w/o any problems so far.

I'm thinking about a motor and trans swap and i'd like the extra gear of the 5R110. PCS has a stand alone controller for this trans and destroked has adapters, therefore I was considering it.
Motor wise, the mechanics @ the dealership told me to stick w/ the 7.3 so I might rebuild or drop in a cummins. Either way I'd love to use the 5R110 if it has become a solid tranny.

Thanks in advance!

2010 V10 or 2011 BOSS V8

I was going to trade my 2005 6.0 dually for a SRW F350 next fall. I originally was going to go V10 because I'm tired of the un-reliability and poor fuel economy of the new diesels. My question, if you were going to purchase a new F350 gas, would you jump now and buy a V10 or would you wait for the BOSS 6.2 V8. I do love the look of the 2011's and a V8 would sound better with an exhaust than a V10. I will be driving the truck approx. 20,000 miles a year. Of that 20,000 miles, under 1,500 will be towing my 11,000# fifthwheel. I did go to the local Ford dealer and they told me I had until December to order a 2010. Any input would be appreciated.

hi guys, I know it's older than the forum allows, but I'm needin some help. I've got a 95' with a 7.5 in it (460). Yesterday morning it hickuped a little while starting, but started fine. Yesterday afternoon, it wouldn't start at all(will turn over, just not start). To give some history, it has always turned over hard (like it had a bad battery, even if the battery was new). I've checked all the fuses, they appear good. I've tried to pull a code but the reader doesn't acknowledge being hooked up to the truck. I have spark at the distributor, and fuel at the rails, but low pressure. Not the 30-45psi I should have. I can hear the fuel pump come on when I turn the key on. It acts this way on both fuel tanks (and yes they have fuel in them). I suspect maybe a grounding issue(?) I know the truck has 3 pumps (one in each tank one on a frame rail). Could anyone give me a good way to test each pump? Better yet what psi I should have at the tanks?

V10 Gasser performance at GVWR

I am considering replacing my 2001 V10 Crew Cab SWR SB with a 2010 Crew Cab dually V10 which will be used for hauling my 14K lbs RV. I have 4:30 gears in my current truck and performance is marginal in the east coast mountains. I travel alot but have not gone west yet. I want more than just marginal hill climbing power and while I don't want to go diesel I'm thinking I need to.

Is there anyone out there with a new V10 experienced in towing at or near the trucks maximum ratings and with mountain experience that could provide some thoughts.

Also only the 3.73 or 4:10 ratio is available in the dually according to my local dealer. The SRW can be ordered with the 4:30 but not the DRW. What gives????? I want max towing capacity!

Any thoughts to help me make up my mind before it;s too late ot order a 2010 would be greatly appreciated.
