Re: 59988 Registered User(s).

Ya know Sarge, I been around here a while. I've had my ups and downs here, but I can tell you one thing, yeah there is competition out there, but I can truthfully state, that I have NEVER failed to have a technical question about a Ford diesel answered here quickly and accurately. I didn't even know what a CPS was when I came aboard, but when my 97 F-350 skipped and shuddered, I posted, and TDS members came through, even down to the socket size and the best place to purchase the replacement. Competition, well yeah maybe, in my mind no way. This is the best place on the net if you need to get help with a Ford Diesel bar none. And to those of you who would call me a suck up........who cares, I don't come to your sites anyway and could care less...........Happy New Year to all, I am going to go do some fireworks with the kids.......cheers......... what gets me is why do they fear a place with 2,594 users.....when this place has 60,058 members.....Hmmm,Goliath Afraid of David?.....

Nothing could be further from the truth. You need to step back from the personal aspect and look at the business aspect, because that is exactly what TDS is, a business.

The typical Ford dealer does not line his shelves with Chevy ads (I say typical, because I know for a fact there are some dealers who sell both). Likewise, you don't walk into Lowes and find ads for Home Depot. Do you see folks walking in to Ford dealers and throwing a fit because their competition is not displayed?? Or walking into Lowes and throwing a fit because there are no Home Depot ads?? No you don't. Yet it happens here practically daily.

We do not deny that the other sites exist, just as Ford does not deny that Chevy exists and Lowes does not deny that Home Depot exists. We also do not do anything to discourage anyone from joining the other sites. In fact, several of this site's administration are also members of other sites too. We realize that TDS cannot be THE site for everyone and honestly, for some folks, the other sites might actually be a better fit. If so, then that is fine, enjoy them, we do not begrudge you for it. But those sites are our competitors and it is frankly, unreasonable to think that TDS should allow links to it's direct competitors. Most other business do not, so I ask you, why do you think TDS should be any different??

That is the problem. This place thinks with it's wallet and has forgotten who actually pays the bills. Not the Vendors but the Board members that if it wasn't for us then the vendors wouldn't have any reason to buy ad space.

As for the chevy ford dealership thing, yea, they don't advertise the other guys and thats not what the problem is.No stealership is gonna come running outside and kick you off their lot or make you remove your hat/shirt if it has the other brands name on it or if you drive up in a Chevy to a Ford Dealership;which is exactly what is happening over here.Hiding in a corner like a kid with his favorite toy yelling "No I won't share! My toy!"

I guarantee you they would, if what you were doing with that hat, T-shirt, or truck, was advertising for the competition. That is exactly what is happening here and it will not be tolerated.

End of story.
