"Back" button behavior screwed up!

I'm sorry, but the googlead system is "infecting" this site beyond reasonable..it's become like a virus! I just noticed that pressing the "back" button doesn't link to the previous "dieselstop" page, but to a "pagead2.googlesyndication.com" page that then takes you back to the previous page. Since I've got that particular host blocked on my system, my "back" button behavior is screwed up.

I'm sure that this is also why the page loads are so slow. This site has a good number of "sponsors" like myself, that pay good money to support the site, lay off of the excessive number of page load slowing google ads or you will not only lose regular members, you'll lose sponsors like myself too!

For those members that are wondering why some sponsors like myself may not post as often as we used to...it's because this site is so slow and difficult to navigate.

Quite frankly, I'll suggest your ad dollars are better spent elsewhere - I can't believe you'll get the same return on your investment as you used to when Jason was running the site. The new owners have ruined things for both the visitors, and the advertisers.

For visitors who don't block ads, the number of ads is so overwhelming, that none of them stand out - they all get ignored.

The other group of users (like myself), simply block them all - it's the only way this site is usable any more.

In either of the above scenarios, nobody is paying attention to your ads. Unless you are paying by the click, you're likely wasting your money.

Honestly, the "ad" itself isn't the reason most of us "diesel" guys pay to advertise on these sites. It's the priveledge of being able to post and discuss our products. My point above was that this site has gotten so slow that I'm not even doing much of that. As of now, this is the only site that is like this...but the company that owns this site also owns another Powerstroke site. If they both end up being more ads than content, I'll depart from both.

As a sponsor I don't blame you for being pi$$ed. This site throws more junk at the browser loading window than a Russian porno site....what's next? Spyware & Trojans?......Somehow I feel that if it paid enough, the new owners would throw them in to.

Sheesh...my dual core 6GHz machine running thru a 6Mbps broadband connection is slower than a 486 DX66 running on dial up when I come here...

well, answer this ? both of us log into the same site. my download takes about 5 seconds to display everything, including the sidebar. yours takes a lot longer. where, most likely, is the problem? i dont have anything special, laptop and cable modem that i access thru wifi along with 4 other computers. (I let 3 neighbors use it, too). do people think that the site is selective as to who gets the quicker download? there has to be a better answer than the servers spewing out lots of ads. i get the same downloads as everyone else and so do hundreds of other users who are not having problems.. sorry to say, but, i dont know what the answer is.

(PS I dont think anyone is complaining for no reason)

John,,, were not here to answer your questions ,,,

you have at least a full page of us having problems ,,,Its not up to us to fix it ,,telling us that you are not affected is not helping,,,

Telling us that someone is looking into it , is what we are looking for ...

I am a member on maybe 8 different forums ,, this is the only one that hangs ,,after displaying done ,waiting for the header add to load .

There is a problem

Turning up the sensitivity on the pop up blocker , closing sidebar , shutting off avitars , is not getting it done ..

The only common denominator here is TDS ,,,

were not making this up,,it needs to be fixed .....

John if you are the one trying to trouble shoot the problem here with slow loading look at it this way. When I first go to thedieselstop.com the page loads fairly quick. However when you try and maneuver around the site it slows down. I just watched a blank page for 20 seconds when I was trying to open up another thread. So getting here is no problem for me it is just getting around the site where I see most of the problems.

John,

Trust me, it's not my internet connection speed!

From your test website...(Location / Download / Upload)
Seattle / 7857kbps / 1089kbps
San Francisco / 8197kbps / 1090kbps
Los Angeles / 9195kbps / 1084kbps
Dallas / 6801kbps / 1083kbps
Chicago / 5642kbps / 1082kbps
Atlanta / 5679kbps / 1078kbps
New York City / 5379kbps / 997kbps
Washington DC / 8999kbps / 1076kbps

Simply put, whatever the page is loading right after the "The Diesel Stop" header image with the truck appears is what is screwing up the page loads. The bottom of the screen says "DONE" at this time while the system "thinks" and then it starts loading again. This is a vBulletin forum system, same as every other popular PSD forum site out there and same as I run for both my ITP Customer Forums and the Arizona Powerstroke Group forums. I have a lot of experience with this forum software, this behavior is not normal and I'm positive it's totally because of all of the extra google ad stuff going on.

What's really a shame is that the admins have not come in here and addressed these issues the members are bringing up. That doesn't speak well for their concern for how the site is running, how it's being perceived by the members...it suggests that as long as they are getting their sponsor $ and pay-per-click $ that everything is just peachy and they must not have anything to worry about. I had hoped that the new owners of this site would make it a great site again...like it used to be years ago...but it turns out that the grass was NOT greener on the other side of that hill!

Apparently all of us have lousy internet speeds or hardware and thats why it takes forever for all of our computers to load... that makes sense, except that most here mention that no other forums take this long to load.

my intention is to find a common reason that some are slow and others are not. i'm not putting anybody down or their equipment.

i found one guys connection goes from north east to miami fl then to whatever site he loads. 4 tests at different times and 3 different round trip times and one failed attempt.

if it is a TDS problem, the admins are the ones to fix it, the mods cant do it. start PM'n them. mods have mentioned it to admins but no responce.

I've seen them respond here before ...They must read here also ...

That just makes it worse ,, they are aware there's a problem , & still no responce from them ....

Not good....

Thought I was good at Chicago 699 / 119 (didn't check others)

I also get the slow back after being on a while. I just switch to another sight when this one slows to a point where it doesn't hold my attention.
