banned??

alright so this being my first post here, i'll probably catch a lot of sh**. but i gotta ask. i'm a member to 6 other forum's. ford chevy and dodge. most of them have about 7-14 thread's about being banned from here. mostly cuz they suggest a vendor that is not one of your sponsor's, but not alway's. WHY?? is it a crime here punishable by banning? he**, i'll probably be banned for asking. that's not what i wan't but if it happen's it happen's. you'll prove my point exactly. one guy ruffle's a moderator's feather's and BOOM, you gone. what's the deal?

Re: banned??

Most banned ex-members are 86'd due to the arguing about how the site rules are administered.
Of course, I am speaking from a very limited knowledge base....I really like this site....can't stand people arguin about rules they just don't want to live with.
I would guess most of the banned individuals are hard to get along with EVERYWHERE they go...thinks the whole world should be like Burger King.
Glad you asked these questions...now you can enjoy all the good questions and technical answers here on the best site on the Net.

Re: banned??

You aren't getting the real story. Those people are part of the TDS marketing team using those competetive sites to promote this one.

Re: banned??

Don't believe everything you read I guess would be the lesson here. We very rarely ban someone and usually give them several chances unless the problem is very flagrant such as lots of profanity, spamming, etc. We have no problems discussing vendors that are not sponsors unless the person doing the discussing has some relationship with that vendor. We have that happen more frequently than I would wish. If you want to make money from a site we provide for free, at least pay to be a sponsor. Our rules are clearly posted. If you cannot follow them, you are not welcome here.

444-4D,

I hope you were just joking about that. There is absolutely no truth to that.

Re: banned??

okay. most of that is understandable. but what's wrong with posting a link to another forum if it help's a guy who's having trouble with his truck? if that forum has a thread that addresses the same or similar problem why not link to it? none of the other forum's have ever got on to me for posting a link to another forum. even if it is a ford forum linked to a competing ford forum. ???? i did see/read the rules when i joined and i'm just trying to resolve some question's i have about the way this forum is run. it's alot more diffrent. most of what i hear is about post's that are deleted or locked without explenation. then there's the infamous banning that everyone claim's has happened. i know most of it can't be true. after all how long ya'll been here!?!?

Re: banned??

We've been in operation since 1997. We have had a problem in the past with disgruntled users continually spamming us with links to other similar sites. We no longer allow links to those sites because of that.

Re: banned??

We also attract more than our share of users at times that just seem to want to cause problems like the one that was posting in this thread earlier who then asked that we delete him.

Re: banned??

Re: banned??

That is exactly my thinking, if you don't like it leave. Then after you leave, don't come back and complain, especially under a new nick.

What kind of an adult gets upset after being banned because they asked for it to happen or after being warned multiple times. I don't believe I have ever seen anyone get banned from this site for just one instance.

Re: banned??

You want to talk about patience and fairness here, the fact that a moderator took the time to edit a previous post, which was posted deliberately to break the rules which were just previously set out in a response by the owner of this site, when the moderator should have flushed it down the UBB threads toilet. That is patience and also a MORE than fair approach to allowing those here to express themselves. That is one thing I like about this site agree or disagree, there is in my mind a real attempt to be consistent, and moreover, this site has a direction and a mission, something missing from all of the "Johnny come lately" sites that pop up and thrive like weeds in the spring and die in the fall........ Re: banned??

if your talkin about my post being edited, i know the rules and i posted those links on purpose. this is what i wanted to find out. i wasn't banned for breaking the rules one time i didn't even recieve a warning. so, that is leading me to believe that the ones that cry and whine about being banned are repeat offender's and should have been banned. as for me, i apologize to the mod's for my obvious purpously disregarding the rules of this site.

Re: banned??

I haven't seen a site yet that someone that was banned didn't deserve it before it actually happen. In most cases.

Premature thread closures? A different issue but, is often the catalyst / beginning of the end for the banned ones.
