Canadian's wanting to purchase mods from the U.S.A...

Those of us living up here in what some think of as the wild west still, are getting burned when it comes to making our purchases in the U.S.
With that said, I'll give you an example.
I just purchased my Powershot2000 propane injection system, of which I'm very happy with the item purchased, but the costs have skyrocketed, and I'm writing this so that those other Canadian's thinking of making a purchase in the U.S. will take these costs into consideration.
My Powershot2000 was approxmiately $500.00 or thereabouts for any American citizen living in the U.S. I put it on my VISA, and the bill just came in with the "exchange" which put the bill at $824.00 for this item. Yesterday, our glorious Canadian government just sent me another bill for Goods and service Tax, Provincial sales tax, and brokerage fees of another $110.00+ which is now giving me a little change from a $1000.00 bill. Not enough to buy my propane tank, but enough for a few fills.

I write this only to inform those thinking that the price you see is only a fraction of what you'll totally see leaving your wallet.
I personally realized when making my purchase that the "exchange rate" was going to raise the final digit much higher, but didn't realize that I would be paying taxes on taxes on taxes on exchange etc.
My truck goes faster now though..

Re: Canadian's wanting to purchase mods from the U.S.A...

Why didn't you go through BD Performance in Abbotsford? I've been finding that if you buy through BD Perf. or MOPAC, the prices are actually cheaper then buying through a company in the US. MOPAC is one of Canada's largest performance dealers and is opening up 3 more stores in Western Canada (Edmonton, Saskatoon and somewhere else???) real soon. They are competing against Summit and are winning for the Canadian customer by keeping money in our pockets.

Re: Canadian's wanting to purchase mods from the U.S.A...

Tis true. Canada has high taxes on the productive elements of society. The "Big Government" forces have taken over your Government with promises of such things as "free" medical care for all. Apparently too many voters flunked Economics 101 which taught TANSTAAFL. Nothing is free. Someone has to pay for it.

But we're off topic for this forum. So I'll move this thread to the Other Topics: Other forum. Look for additional discussion in that forum.
