A topic was just started and you locked it up.. I don't think that your being fair.. Are you doing it only because you can? Yes.. It does probably belong elsewhere but we all come here first...

The topic belonged in the "Other" forum and that is where it is. You can add your comments to the topic on fuel prices in the "Other" forum. I moved the offending thread because that's part of the job of being a Moderator. This thread doesn't belong in this forum either, so it is being transferred to the "News, Comments, and Suggestions" forum. This is Jason's, (the webmaster), personal forum.

I agree with OB-1 and support his decision. I prefer the site to be as organized as possible too.
He didnt move it because he can he did it to provide a more pleasureable trip thru f-d.com
Gripes go to news, suggestions forum and
fuel prices to Gen Diesel or Other depending on what fuel.... This way there is one topic on fuel prices and not one for each F-Series forum.

I think you guys do a great job of keeping everything nice and organized. Makes it a lot easier to find what you're looking for. Good job.

The moderators on this site are outstanding. I've cruised the other sites and was very disappointed with the disorganization and lack of control. Keep up the good work, guys!

quote:
I think they all need to relax a bit. No sence being a Nazi about this, ..... If the info wasn't good I wouldn't be here! The Management is less than to be desired in my opinion! Go for it guys, Revoke this Name! I will just get another, and another... You owe an appology!

Nazi! Our moderators are far from that. They do a great job here. You should take another look and think about that statement.
Revoke your user name, just to get another and another? What purpose would that serve? If all you want to do is disrupt the site, I suggest you find another site.
If any apologies are owed, you owe one to Jason and his fine group of moderators.

quote:
Never had a desire to disrupt this site. I am simply stating opinions and factual events that occured. Sir, I believe it is you that dislike what I have to say, so you are "Bashing" me.

You're right, when you call our moderators "Nazi" I do not like what you have to say. I find equating our moderators with nazis abhorrent.

quote:
I stated several times now how much I like this site. I also stated, which anyone who has any sence will agree, it is not Jason Lester, any of the moderators or this Website which make it as great as it is. It IS the people who post, contribute and read this information, Hence, they deserve the right to have an input.

You're right again, it is a great site. How do you think it became such a great site? It happened because Jason had the foresight to make it a well moderated site with rules that prevent the chaos so common on the 'net.
I agree, the members deserve input, but Jason has the final say.

quote:
To have my user name revoked because the SysOp disagrees with my point of view is not only unconstitutuional, but it is morally wrong. Yes, this is a private board, but it is a private board with public access, which means we all have the right to the 1st ammendment.

Wrong! The First Amendment does not apply here, any more than it does in the living room of your house. If you have a guest whose speech you find offensive, you toss him. Same here. The First Amendment only applies to what the government can and cannot do.

quote:
The major violation was an extra line in my signature. Lets look, Half the moderators have signatures longer than mine was, and most the "Regulars" don't even come close to the 3 line rule.

I disagree with the numbers of violators, but I also have a problem with the signature length. The signature is displayed differently by different browsers, by different display settings, and by different computers using the same browser and the same display settings. I have experimented with several computers and have found no logical reason for this, but I assure you it is true. Therefore, I try to limit my signature to what my computer displays as three lines. It may display more lines or fewer lines on another's computer.

quote:
Again, my opinion. I feel I was wronged. I am still going to enjoy this site, and its information, and post this to bring to everyones attention that this board is moderated very intensly and it is taking away from the enjoyment of it.

You are entitled to your opinion, but I believe the moderation to be more than fair. Take away the moderation and you will destroy the site.
Mike

Well, it seems both posts I was responding to have disappeared during this composition. What happened? ModerII, did you delete your posts?
[This message has been edited by mhardin (edited 01-26-2001).]
Nope, JLester did. He has sent us nasty e-mails in the past and I personally found his signature to be pretty offensive. I didn't know he had returned until I saw his replies to this thread.

His posts were apparently deleted - about the same time his status changed from "Member" to "Unregistered".

I enjoy this site as much as the next guy, and I too agree that we have some excellent, well-intentioned moderators, but...
all you have to do is wander over to the 99 and up forums to find a whole bunch of topics that belong in the "other" or "general diesel" forums.
Just tonight, I found topics on diesel preferences and costs, oil preferences and costs, etc, etc...
I find that as a 97 and below kind of guy, if i don't surf the 99 and above forum, I'll miss out on a lot of information that is certainly not 99 and above exclusive.
I think as members and as moderators, we all can work a little harder to help follow the organization of this site.
Just my 2 cents.
But, it seems to me that a lot of the topics here incorporate subjects which apply to more than one of the different forums which are available.
Not only that, but as the thread goes on, posters often lead the thread into different subjects (I'm guilty as charged)
I have noticed that the moderators have tried to allow a topic to stay in a particular forum as long as some part of it still applied to that forum.
From my perspective, the moderators have tried to go out of their way to not move a topic to a different forum unless it was clearly out of place. I assumed this was so that the original poster would know where to go to look for responses.
The bottom line is that, in my opinion, the moderators do an incredible job of keeping an eye on posts from nearly 11,000 members.
