Do some threads get deleted?

I regularly see threads that get locked, but are there any cases where whole threads get deleted?

Objectionable threads or threads in flagrant violation of forum rules can get deleted rathet than locked at the moderator's discretion. When this is done the originator is sent an email at the email address they have listed in their signature explaining the moderation.
