E-Mail Notification Again! - Diesel Forum

I hate to sound stupid, but there is conflicting information in this forum.

Is Email Notification for Forum Posts supposed to work or not? I am not talking about Private Messages.

Forums instructions say it should. There are some comments (from Moderators) that say it should and some that suggests it should not!

I can't get it to work.

Tperk100 I do not know if this will work or not, but here goes anyway.

You first have to click on"My Home" and then scroll down to :

Subscribe / Unsubscribe from receiving forum posts by email, change message notifications, etc. " and click on "edit" and set
your preferences in this section and it is below:

Do you want all replies to your favorite threads emailed to you?

Next you have to bo to the bottom of the page that you want to have an email sent to you and in the left hand corner is the box and and click on the "toggle" This subscribes you to this particular thread. It looks like this:

When all this is done and you have setup to have an email sent to you on this thread it should notify you.

From the way I read this if you want to be notified when you start a new thread and want to be notified by email when someone replies to it you would have to subscribe to it even though you are the originator of the thread. When you want to stop receiving emails on a thread you have to go back into the "My Home" section and and check the ones that you want to delete and then click the "delete button and that should get rid of those threads.

I am going to put this thread in my favorites section and see if this works, so if you make a reply to this thread I will know it it does. Yeah I know that this is sort of back door, but it is the only way that I can see that it will work on a thread that you start yourself. [img]/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/shrug.gif[/img]

I forgot to add that you need to make sure you have your correct email address in your personal preferences. heck I guess now I will see if I get an email. hehe hehe [img]/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/biggrin.gif[/img]

Edit I:
Yep that worked I just got an email. I am now going to go to the test forum and start a new thred and "toggle" it and see if that will work as the way I read this. [img]/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/shrug.gif[/img]

Yep that worked for my "Test Thread" . I got an email on my original post.

HED,I have all of the settings you mentioned in place except for email adddress to be displayed. I just added it. Let's see what happens now.

Tperk have you changed your email address since you registered? If you have you are going to have to change it to where you get your email from now. If you do be careful and just change it or you will have to register to TDS.

Are you turning on the toggle at the bottom of the thread that you want to receive the email from? If you want to receive an email on a post that you originate you have to turn it on also.Below is where you turn the toggle on- it is in the box at the bottom left of the page you are reading at the time.

It does not work.

At "My Home" I have a whole list of favorite threads to which I get no notifications. If you click my profile you can see my email address is a good one.

I have my signature, my profile, my web page, my bio, etc set up correctly. I AM very computer literate. It DOES NOT WORK!

It does now for me. I unchecked and saved and then went back in a rechecked and saved. Then on new threads I check the box at the bottom to add to my favs. I get the emails now. Only silly thing is that I get my own notifications... [img]/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif[/img]

Still, I wish it opened the thread as normal and not as a level of the thread.

It shows that our server is successfully sending messages to your e-mail address through mx.west.cox.net (your ISP's mail server). If they aren't getting to you, either your ISP's mail server is not working correctly, the mail server is filtering your mail, or your computer is filtering your mail. With all the spam block filters (some completely brain dead) that people are using now, I'm surprised anything gets through.

Oh OH! I have about 30 email addresses, and I must humbly apologize to all...............the email address I use here was not enabled for downloading by my mail client application.

When I enabled it, I recieved about 75 messages from the server, mostly from this site.
