>You're just not going to convince me on Delphi, sorry. I like to be able to fix things myself when something happens and not be dependent on someone else

I do all my own forum maintenance on Delphi, the system NEVER goes down. You have 100% control.

It is not a free for all over there either, many forums are pasword protected as you have here.

You can seemlessly integrate what you have here with Delphi.

At least take a look.

Here is a stock/investment forum I manage that is now about 12 years old.

Re: Forum Changes

Maybe we could use a couple of topics for general driving and routing maintenance questions. I see lots of posts inquiring about items like whether or not to leave the engine running or not and how long to warm up. Posts on mileage are always popular and could fit in there as well.
While I'm at it, Smokey gets my vote too and thanks Jason for the great site! Max

Re: Forum Changes

I looked, I don't like, sorry. Too busy for my taste, plus the ads they insert. I really feel I have more control over it running on my own server. I may not convince you of that, but that's my opinion. I also have the freedom to modify the code and fix bugs myself. My last post on the subject.

Re: Forum Changes

When the 99+ forum gets broken up, I would suggest making them subforums if possible. My catagories would be:
1. Mechanical(Drivetrain, Brakes, Body, ect.)
2. Interior/Electrical
3. Aftermarket/Add-Ons
4. Truck Use & Abuse(Hauling, Towing, ect.)
5. Ordering/Status/Got my Truck
Since this site is supposed to be for the technical discussion of Ford-Diesels, and the fifth catagory would get lots of posts, I would run an auto erase after a 60 day inactive period on each thread in this fifth catagory.

Re: Forum Changes

May I suggest looking at the free forum service available at:

http://forums.delphi.com/

I manage several forums there and you have complete control over what goes on and they are free and easy to use.

Size and number of posts is no problem.

Re: Forum Changes

SmokeyWren, To answer your two questions @ the top of this page, yes towing and trailering could by all intents and purposes include truck camper units. However electrical and wiring does not always pertain to upgrades/aftermarket equipment. There have been many posts in the past regarding electrical problems with the standard equipment already on the truck. Perhaps "Upgrades/Aftermarket/Electrical Equipment?" And yes, I too would like to see you become a moderator or Prez. You're one of the good guys.

Re: Forum Changes

Snotzalot...nice try on the URL you left for Delphi, as I thought I'd give it a try, but you have to register first! Well...thought I'd give that a try too....but since I don't have a "zip code" and it won't take my "Canadian postal code" I was unable to check out your forum! Then...to top it all off...you don't seem to have an e-mail address...and who doesn't have one of those these days?? Gosh...frustration...anyway, Delphi forums looks like a great site, but I'm unable to check them out...as I go around and around...trying to "submit" but with the "no zipcode" it keeps telling me I've left something out. I'm trying too to figure out how you came to the "nic" you use???

Dale said: "...but since I don't have a "zip code" and it won't take my "Canadian postal code"..."

This is the 3rd message today that I've seen you mention the hardships of living in Canada when this is a USA world.

But one of those messages said you live only 10 miles from the USA.

I didn't respond in that forum, for fear of being thought of as a smartarse when you seem to have a serious inconvenience. But I was wondering why you don't just visit the other side of the border and get yourself a post office box in a U.S. Post office? If it's only 10 miles, then you could check it once a week or so. Then you'd have a U.S. address where you could receive PowerStroke mag (or whatever), as well as a zip code when you need it.
