Can someone advise me on where to look for rules governing these forums? I know not to post things about the engine in the ordering forum, but I have been involved in some discussions that seem to have been on-topic and quite relevant that have just disappeared. I'd like to know where to find out what is allowed/not allowed so that I can keep from wasting my time replying to or offering advise on a thread that is doomed and destined for removal/deletion.
Any member can delete his own post by clicking on the edit/delete button at the top of his post, then clicking on the delete spot at the top-left of the edit screen, then clicking on "Submit Reply".
If the topic starter - the member that posts the first message in a thread - deletes his post, then the entire thread goes away into the big bit-bucket in the sky. There is nothing Jason or any of his elves can do about it. It's simply gone.
So sometimes a member posts a really dumb message, then after a few others razz him about it, he deletes his message - and thus he deletes the thread.

Thank you for answering my question. I did read that page before signing up, but the threads I am talking about didn't seem to fall in to any of the areas adressed by anything mentioned on the register page. Oh well... Live and learn I suppose
Thanks again,
Mike

SmokeyWren,
Thanks for the reply, I don't know that the origional poster didn't delete the thread, it's entirely possible. It just struck me as odd that two threads in the same forum and along similar topics both dissappeared at very close to the same time (overnight) and I just didn't want to be stepping on anyone's toes by getting involved with discussions that were not acceptable here.
Thanks,
Mike

Most of the time when the moderators lock a thread, They then move it to the proper section of the forum. When this is done they usually statewhich forum it is moved to.
s to ya and have a goodn'.

You can see the rules by clicking the Register link at the top right of the page. You should have read them before signing up

I would like to re-read the Forum Rules again just to refresh my memory. I tried logging out, then clicked the register link, entered my birthday, then the next screen says "I agree to Board Rules".
Of course I still agree, but I cannot find the rules anywhere. I did a search and found this thread. Maybe the rules link got lost in the upgrade or I am a dummy
I don't know about the link from the register pg not working, but here's how to find the website rules:
Scroll up to the top of this screen and notice two menu bars. On one of those menus is a button for "faqs". Click (or double-click if required by your browser) on that button, then scroll down to the last link on the faqs screen to Forum Rules and Membership Agreement. Click on that and you go to this link:
Note: There are two different menu bars. The top one has the "faqs" button to get you to the forums FAQs. The other menu contains a button for "FAQ" in all caps, but that one is a different FAQ - the one for website navigation.

[/ QUOTE ]Apparently, Jason fixed it already. I tried it just now (11:30 a.m. CST on Sunday) and it worked just fine and dandy.

[/ QUOTE ] Nope. Point your finger at the guy who designed the website. Having one button for faqs and another for FAQ without a tiny bit more ID of the buttons is confusing to new users, therefore not a good design.
