Smile How old is Ford-Diesel/Dieselstop website

Anyone remember when this board started? I've been on this board longer than any other (and still have yet to own a Ford diesel, LOL) but I think it was pretty new when I signed up July 1999. I was member 1200-something, it was Ford-Diesel.com back then. When did it change to Diesel-stop?

As you can see I spend a lot of time on here, this should be post #300

Vaughn

I didn't join until 2000 (member 5000 and something), but I remember when it was Jason's Powerstroke Page (prior to F-D.com). I was just lurking back then! I forget when it changed to the the DieselStop, but it was after Ford's legal weenies got involved. Cheers!

Jason Lester cranked up a bulletin board devoted to Ford diesel trucks in 1997 using the ABOL bulletin board. But he could see that the internet was the thing of the future, so he converted over to Ford-Diesel.com during March, 1999. Jason's join date is 03/15/1999, and his user ID (member number) is 2. It required some fiddling around before he had it fully up and running, so very few of the ABOL bulletin board members registered on Ford-Diesel.com until early April, 1999.

I registered on 04/26/1999 as user ID #951, so it was around the first of May, 1999 before we had the first 1,000 members registered.

We had a national rally near the Kentucky Truck Plant on Memorial Day weekend, 2001. As part of the rally we toured KTP, and some of us drove to Indianapolus and toured the International foundry and engine plant where the PowerStroke was assembled. One member was awarded the use of a new 2002 PowerStroke pickup for one year.

Not long after that rally, Ford lawyers forced Jason to change the name of the website. I have CRS, so I don't remember the exact year, but I seem to remember he had to have it done by January, 2002. (But maybe it was a year later?) I'm sure members with better memories will set me straight.

Under the old UBB Threads forum software, it was shown in your profile. As Dick mentioned, if you go back to the old database of posts under UBB Threads and find a post you made, it will have your member ID in your profile.

But under the VBulletin forum software we now use, I suspect you have to be an admin or moderator to look at such things as member ID (user number) and e-mail address by editing your profile. But you might try to edit your own profile and see if member ID# shows.

If you want to look a the old forums database, click on the following link, then scroll down to the bottom of each forum and change the number of threads you can see to "all".

I'm member #72, and remember visiting it pretty much daily (or several times daily) back as early as '97. Site was small but pretty active.

I was one of those latecomers that didn't join until Jan 02, 2000, but I've always wondered what member number I was....

If you have any old pictures posted in the "Gallery", the first numbers you see in the pictures name is your number. To see that number, just do a passover with your cursor and it should show up. However, this may not be your original number because when the name changed, some of the members that were dropped lost there number and all the numbers were backed up to reflect that. I lost about 50 or 60 to 14718. It originally was 14779 or close to it.

Dick,
Could you find what number I was on Jason's Powerstroke Page? I know I was very early. I had been looking for a Powerstroke page since I bought my 95 and hung out on a Cummins list group because that was the only diesel site that discussed Ford diesels until Jason started his site.

Thanks

I remember being a member when there were less then 3000 members. Then something happened and all the member ID's got dumped and I couldn't sign in and had to make a new sign in name. Never did find out what happened. Am I remembering this right or am I having a senior moment. That was when I had my 99.5 4x4.
