if I have to look at another Dodge or Chevy ad I kid you not.
What is the deal with the guys running this site? Do they listen to anyone other than the ones who stuff money down into their pockets for senseless advertising? Like I said before, they might as well be advertising for tampons for the old lady as I am much more likely to run out and get some of those tonight versus buying a chevy or dodge tomorrow!!

I have been curious as to why this Ford site see's so many(any) chebby and doge ads. Seems they would be MUCH more effective on the other sites. But that's just me.
2006 F350 CC LWB Dually XLT Oxford white manual 4x4 6.0 PSD 6 speed. 4.10 LS front and rear, Built May05. 4" turbo back, 55 gal aux fuel tank. A real pig from a stop, give me 15' and she'll slowly come to life, then watch out!
165K miles, 12 injectors, EGR cooler, Fuel pump, 8 glow plugs, GPCM, FICM rebuilt FoMoCo engine at 150K under 7/200 warranty.
I believe that you are seeing what Google is running in the "Adds by Google" as they scroll through it. I really don't know since I do not see the adds on the forums or between the post.
shhhhh, they might double the amount of ads to try to convince you.

Somebody has to pay the very high bills to keep this a "free" website. So the owners of the website sell advertising to whoever wants to pay out the big bucks - website sponsors such as DieselSite.com as well as "ads by Google". It's those ads by Google you're seeing. They are probably targeted to car and truck enthusiasts, but not by brand.
Check out the benefits of becoming a supporting member. One of the benefits is you'll see fewer ads. Supporting members help pay for those expensive new servers the admins plugged in recently, so they don't also have to pay again by seeing some of the ads. Of course you'll still see some ads. Right now I see a Dieselsite banner at the top of the screen, and an ads by Google banner a little further down.

Or you can switch to Firefox and use their ad-blocker. I have zero ads on any of the sites I go to

I just don't see why they can't be more selective on what ads we see. If I were a sponsor like Dieselsite who pays money for ads and actually had a product that is geared towards those of us who visit this site then I'd be somewhat irritated at the other ads running for that would drive people away who would otherwise buy my products. This would apply to any other advertiser selling diesel related items for a Ford, what good would it be for my potential customers to be out buying a chevy or dodeg? This is not a knitting or gardening forum, some of us here are incredibly loyal to the ford brand and are insulted by the ads we see, like the banner scrolling right above me as I type this response.

I'll get off my soapbox now.
Because you can not be selective with google ads, you have a website geared towards trucks. Google ads will pick up on the keyword truck and start to show truck ads, that's just how it works.
If you don't want to see any ads download the Firefox browser and get the Adblock plug in.

That's not true smokeywren. How do I know that? I have 4 websites, including an auction website & a classic car forum. If the owners want, I'll show 'em how to run this piddly little forum website for about 200 bucks for two years. It does NOT cost big money any more to start/maintain/support a website. If the owners are paying ANY more than I just stated, then they're getting screwed, big time. This is nothing but free PHP software, it takes NO room on a server, nothing complicated, standard boilerplate software. Once it's set up, there's practically no maintenance. Plus, from what I see of the hits, there's no real bandwidth being used... I do like their emoticon library.
All this frappin' advertising is just for profit bucks, which is OK I guess, but they gotta realize that they're runnin' people off in droves. Fer cryin' out loud, this is some of the worst I've seen, holding the opening of EVERY page of the forum for 15 seconds so we gotta look at the slimy ads, ads in between posts, ads all over the sides... THEN, putting tracking cookies on our computers from doubleclick, google, and all the other slimeballs that I see. Hell, ebay ain't quite as bad! Naw, the advertising here is just for making personal bucks, period....
The best thing any/every owner/webmaster can remember is, "People vote with their feet".

Very well said. I wanna know what these "very high bills" are that this site has. It cant be that much for crying out loud. i understand there are some expenses, but whoever owns thissite, is definitely padding their pockets with these advertisements.
Why don't I see those ads you guys are talking about?
Prolly 'cause you paid the hefty "ransom" required to be able to use this site..... It's set up that way, don't pay up front, get hit over the head 99 times a second.... I come here to meet new friends and mebbe get a few tips on runnin' my ol' Fords. I sure didn't realize that it was gonna be like this. There IS some software that deals with this kind of skull-draggin', but I dunno what/where to look for. I'm forced to vote with ma feet, can't hang...
