Well, I tried to hang around hoping the new administrators would fix the site after all the complaints about ADS. Unfortunately, it appears the administrators are no help and refuse to respond to the members. So after some reluctance, I am jumping ship and moving to the other site.
I hope the technicians who have provided so much wonderful support over the years spend some time on the other site. I learned a lot with my first diesel pickup. Hopefully, I provided some help to a few of the members in return. See you on the other side.

ya. not liking it... very slow as i have been searching and the pages take forever to load. not sure if that is my mid speed connection or the site. the site basically looks like every othe site with all the bs ads. can't blame the CEO as the cash flow is likely good. generally isn't the strategy to build it up until it's worth a good chunk and then sell it?

It is extremely slow, even with firefox. I have to sign in every few days despite not clearing cookies, and it takes a good deal of time just looking at different areas because when I go back the former page goes back to the top of the extremely long topic list; if I wait it eventually returns to the topic I was last at.
I've been here since 1999 but I'm finding it all too slow and frustrating and don't come back as often as I used to.

Yep, but notice it says "LESS ads" - not "NO ads".
I thought I could learn to live with it...until I rolled down for the next post and the ad followed me and opened OVER the post.

Just to let you know that the only adds that I see are the google adds at the top of the threads. I have the side bar turned off so that I have a full page to read with no other adds than the google ones.

Reason: cleaned up quote
this doesn't speed up the site, but it loops back the DNS lookup locally in your own PC for the above sites. It still lags between the header and the body of any page.
