Re: Moderator over kill

Flamin' Dually,
I've been using this site since 1998.
This was the first site I discovered when I bought my first computer and first SD.

I have had my share of run-ins with the web master and the moderators. There were times where I just plain couldn't understand what their problems were, or what they were thinking..
Since I was new to computers and internet conversation, I could not see why the rules were so strictly inforced.
I thought that a little discretion should be involved.
Now, I can see exactly why there can not be any inconsistancies or grey areas when enforcing the rules. Moderating internet conversation is a heck of a lot harder than moderating conversations in person.

This site should be a model of how to run a successful internet site. It hasn't fizzled one bit.
It has existed for many years, and each year it improves and grows.
A pretty obvious sign that Jason is doing it right.

The forums here are strictly inforced so the topics don't desolve into something other than an answer or opinion of the original subject. It can be very frustrating to the poster if his or her topic takes off in the wrong direction. It's even more frustrating when a bad apple is allowed to ruin the whole basket.
That doesn't happen here.
Try and respect that.
Try and learn from that.

Re: Moderator over kill

Did I say all of that behavior stuff applied to me????

Seriously, I want to give credit when credit is due.
The site is successful. He's making money, membership is growing and bottom line,
I really like to see people succeed when they give something a shot.

We have met some good people too, and the real troublemakers get the boot. (don't ask it!) ....
All of this good cheer, and I'm not even medicated!

Re: Moderator over kill

I have not been on this sight as long as George. Only about a year and a half..but he is right,,One can't start something like this and think that people will use common sense..discression,,,what ever you want to call it on their own,,,ITS NOT GONNA HAPPEN..so you have to moderate. And they do a great job of it.
SO ,,, [b]DITTO GEORGE{/b] Also they have all those neato little tricks to do on here...like the bold , quote, and the GRAEMLINS...is that really how its spelled?
Thanks Jason

Re: Moderator over kill

Whoa, I didn't expect to see reference to my former name here. I thought it was a cute name (like the new one better though) and since I didn't have a feel of the board first when I joined, I didn't think it was a biggie at all. I knew a gal once that had Sexy Jeep as her name on a bb that I belong too and no one ever had a problem with it, guys or gals. Anyhoots, although I was surprised by the request to change my name, I had absolutely NO problem doing so and changed it immediately (that night) since I really like this forum, and I'm just too easy goin' of a person to get fraustrated over something so little I guess, no biggie

I will thank the moderators for not deleting my posts with the former name right away since they were still active, so thanks .

Well Tootles cause that's all I'm saying on this, Jeannie

ok, slightly off the subject, but I just about that IS300 that crashed. Why would you put armor all over the tires? honestly, no common sense whatsoever; that's just.... sad

Re: Moderator over kill

Jason,
I am thrilled we have tight control on this site. I say that with the fact I had a post deleted this past week. I was wrong in giving illegel advice and I thank the moderator for dumping the whole thread. Please keep this site the way it has been in the past. If I wanted garbage I could go someplace else. I have learned more on this site than I could have learned in a life time without it.
Jim

Re: Moderator over kill

Hey man, Jason and his thugs (um I mean moderators) do a fine job. Like others have said, that makes this a great diesel truck site. The other element that makes this a great site, are the members. Sure, we all may not agree on everything but hey, that's the way it is.

I've been around Jason's truck sites since 1997 and have had my fair share of deleted and locked threads! Do I whine about it or get my feelings hurt, he11 no! Have I purposely crossed the line, well yeah! Have I posted stupid stuff, guilty of that too. I take my slap on the hand and move on. Sure, there's been a time or two that I've posted stuff, that got zapped, that I thaught was within good taste but a mod didn't. If I disagreed with the mods descision, I'd take my questions to that mod. via PM or e-mail.

All in all, they are a good group of guys! Some are pretty conservative and others are pretty liberal. Keep up the good work y'all!!

Hmmm, I still wonder what they do, down in the "moderators forum"???

Re: Moderator over kill

I feel that the website is moderated very well. Nothing is perfect but this is as close as you will find. I have seen a few subjects that were locked up pretty quick, but most of them would have likely gotten it anyhow so not a big deal I guess. I have heard argued several times that this is a family website but I also feel that most people on here are adults that should be mature enough to deal with a post (respectably) they don't believe is quite right. I hope you get what I am trying to say without sounding like a hypocrit. Spelling? Thanks.
