I just finished upgrading the forum software. There are several new features:
<ul type="square">[*]Search - The search function has been greatly improved. There are many more options for restricting your searches to help narrow down what you are looking for.[*]Calendar - There is a calendar now built into the forum software. I'm not sure exactly how we'll use it yet. You can post topics with links to an event on the calendar. This will be handy for rallies and club meetings I'm sure.[*]Hot Topics - A flaming icon will appear beside topics that have a large number of replies and/or views[*]Polls - This function has been improved. There are more options available such as start/stop times.[*]My Home - Mark All Read and Cookie Management have been moved into the My Home section[*]Ignore User - Will probably be the most controversial feature. Users can now choose other users whom they wish to ignore. Ignored user's posts will not be displayed when you are reading a thread. Click on a user's name and then click "Ignore" to activate this feature[*]Improved Performance - Several queries and tables have been optimized for better performance[/list]

I've already used the new search feature to find my 12 step thread and that worked, more exercise needed from the search master.
I like the -> for the moved threads that I have seen on other sites meaning the topic isn't closed down just moved to somewhere else. .... the dreaded lock is now gone and no longer a topic for discussion in moved threads. [img]/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif[/img] Can we get something in that far left column that has a flashing mushroom for us mods that represents that the thread has been "NUKED" .... J/K
Define what a hot topic is ... maybe the number of replies .... over 50? [img]/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/shrug.gif[/img]
Not sure about the birthday thing on the main forums thing ... who wants to admit to that and how do we enter data for that.
Do like the general info on the main forums page in the upper left main menu bar that shows the # of registered and anonymous users (mainly because I can never remember how to spell "anonymous" and don't use spell check with Mozilla since haven't figured out how to do that yet [img]/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/blush.gif[/img]

You can also opt to add your signature on a per-post basis. [img]/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cool.gif[/img] I think this was also a feature of one of the previous versions of the forum software.

You can add your birthday in the Personal Information section of "My Home." It has the option to "Show birthday in calendar and profile". I added mine and if you click on Calendar, there it is! [img]/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif[/img]

Neat feature. I've already used it on a few members. [img]/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/rolleyes.gif[/img] I understand why it is the way it is, but I sort of wish it completely took their name away also.

Thanks for a great site, you and the moderators have a thankless job, just like the poor Service Advisor who did not build our trucks.
Everyone has a complaint at some time, you guys bear the brunt of that.
Personally, you all are doing a great job. FWIW.
(and btw, do you get as much grief with the hours you must give to what-ever you do as a career, and this, as I do with the hours I put in, I don't know how you (and also the mods) do it. My wife already thinks I spend too much time here when I get home from work).

There is that Yellow strip at the top that contains these links, and they all seem to be bundled together, rather than spread out along the Yellow band? Not sure why that has changed, as there is lots of room for these link titles to be spread out a little neater?
Thought there might be a few more emoticons with a new software, but it looks like they are the same.
