Asking the question correctly ....

I 'll try this again ...

Can we save as many PM's, in the new format, to a folder as we wish , or is the a limit on those also ?....

There is a total number of PM's that you are allowed. It does not matter if you space them out in 1 folder or 100 folders, you'll have a maximum limit.

The new software tho, does allow you to download your PM's in various formats (such as CSV) which the old software did not allow.

Microsoft Excel will open a CSV (comma separated file) -- which would allow you to download your PM's for storage on your computer where you can search them offline and store them (or search them) at your convenience without taking up your online quota of them. The old software had no such capability.

Not to drag this out , but are there other microsoft programs that will work also?...

CSV stands for Comma Separated Variables. The file that's output is a plain text file, so any word processor program can view it. They are generally pretty ugly though. Might take some experimenting to get the format usable.
