Number of anonymous users

Anybody take the time to scroll to the bottm and check out how many people are on here at any given time and not registerd?

Just curious as to who they might be?

I'm not paranoid, just wandering if there might be eyes that might want a 6.0 lurking or they sell or build the darn things?

Hmmm......

Most are Ford 6.0 liter engineers, the rest are Dodge and Chevy owners.

James, there is a setting to make yourself show up that way in your main configuration under My Home. They are registered users, they just don't want others to see that they're hanging out in the Other forum. Re: Number of anonymous users

Actually, that isn't correct. Anonymous users are users who are not logged in at all. If you choose to be invisible in your profile, you don't show up at all except for administrators.

Re: Number of anonymous users

TehachapiF250,
I was an anonymous user for many months. I had been contemplating buying my first diesel and was reading the forums because I had heard about the problems with the 6.0. To be honest with you, after reading so many extremely negative posts about everyting having to do with the Super Duty trucks, and all the member bashing that was taking place on this website, I just about turned tail and ran away.
But then I decided that even with all the bashing that was taking place, I still wanted my dream truck and took the plunge and ordered a 2004 F350 CC 6.0 with all the bells and whistles. It is due to be built the week of July 14th. The day after I ordered my truck I registered, figuring that I was now part of the Diesel Stop Club, come hell or high water.
I imagine that many of the unregistered users are just like me. Still contemplating the purchase and waiting for the majority to say the truck is perfect before taking the plunge.

Re: Number of anonymous users

I also used the Diesel Stop site for a long time before I registered. I use it mostly, still as an anonymous user. It simply means I am too lazy to sign in. (Login) I look at it several times a day and delete the cookies off my computer frequently so I have to Login each time I want to answer a message, which has been very infrequently.
My KR F-250 CC Short Box was perfect in every way until I got the latest reflash. It still is superior to anything else out there and I love it. Built in February. 6.0, 5 speed auto 4X4.

Re: Number of anonymous users

If it is so easy, post a message on here with an IP address of 192.168.1.1 (or any IP address that is easily verifiable is not really yours) and point it out to me. I'm an IS Manager at work and do networking for 2000+ computers at over 20 sites. What you are saying is not possible, at least in the way you mean.

IP spoofing is possible, but is not common at all. You have to have intimate knowledge of how certain protocols work. It's use is very limited to such things as flooding, scanning networks, etc. It isn't possible (to my knowledge) to actually use it to anonymously browse the Internet or to appear as another IP address to post messages and the like. Any Internet protocol that needs 2-way communication makes it impossible to work. If you're sending to a server with a fake or spoofed address, the server has no way to reply to you since there isn't a path back to where you are actually located.

Re: Number of anonymous users

J, I would suggest that this is fruitless, your expertise in computer and IT issues is not questioned by me or anyone else, this is all a frivolous matter to me, I have posted here for months and if anyone wanted to shadow me it would have happened, in fact I have received no Spam, no unwanted email no nothing from my participation here, this site is as stable as any...this is all quite ridiculous to me. I was hoping to appeal to Brash on a personal basis, it it apparent that technical stuff, and logical explainations do not appeal to him at this time
