Numbering of posts when returning to thread...

In the past (longtime member here) we use to have a small RED number in brackets (1) beside the thread of which we hadn't read. I often will only see this happen (although it is a dull color now) on perhaps one thread, rather than MANY...as it once was.

There is one thread in the early OBS Powerstroke threads on "aftermarket turbos", and every time I go there, it opens up to the very first thread on the topic! I then have to change it to "show all" or click on the "3rd" page.
IF the numbering of posts (as it once was) was working correctly, it would instantly take me to the first post on that topic..that I hadn't read.

Am I don't something differently, is this feature not working, or do I have something turned off?

Thanks..

Dale

That feature relies on cookies, and you being logged in to tell you which posts are read/unread. If you have cookies disabled, it won't work right. If you aren't logged in, it won't work right.

You can go to your profile and clear your cookies, which may help. If you do that, I think it will then assume that you haven't read ANY posts, and mark them as such for you.

One of the more knowledgeable IT types will confirm or deny what I posted, but I think it's at least close.

Dale, noticed as of today that it is hard to keep track of the posts you have clicked on in a particular forum. I was thinking it was just me but obviously not. I already tried reseting the cookies but that did not fix it.

Re: Numbering of posts when returning to thread...

Geez...I'm anal about clearing the cookies daily, as well run my anti-virus every couple of days as well.
Perhaps it's because of the constant cleaning of cookies that this problem has arose? I run both Mozilla Firefox and Internet Explorer, so perhaps I should just use the same one for this forum, and "not" clean the cookies, to see if that helps?

I do like the feature when it works (although I liked it better in red) but noticed when I first logged on tonight, it showed nothing within brackets, as if I had read everything and was up to date!
