Not that my words will have any bearing but...........
I visit TDS for........My IDI and PSD Fords
Lots of good info and good natured ribbing....er excuse me that was when it was Ford Diesel.com
Presently I just post as little as possible and TRY to stay in my chosen groups.
We have become seperated by some chronic posters and so called do gooders especially in the "other" section that
participating has become a chore rather than a pleasure.
I'm a somewhat opinionated, somewhat loud and off color jokester that just doesen't seem to find my place even in my new PSD forum
SO...I post only whats nessecary to get my PSD issue corrected and that's about it
I know that there are many other places for the likes of myself and other regular Joes who are serious about their diesels but aren't as scared or browbeaten into submission
to act like "the rest"
We like to cut up and friendly harass each other, talk smack about our rides, tell a few jokes and mebee crack a few cold ones, see some smewhat risque pics........
Gee sounds like most tight ass managment types sneaking away from the office for a round of golf and some "guy time" ................doesn't it?
But in the eyes of the office/corporate wage slaves they wear a different face.
Well, trash IS going to be spoken about how "sensetive"
TDS has become at other sites.....and if one of the "gooders" from here such as Hig and a few others have done......immmediatly attacking those with a DIFFERENT opinion, will result in the same thing that would happen when someone comes here doing the same thing....
HOWEVER, if they come to socialize, talk some good natured trash and leave their stuffed shirt elseware they will be welcomed!
Lester HAS done a good job building this site and mebee he is scared of what his $$$$$$ men will think if god forbid there is some humor or a heated discussion of free thinking souls.
Take this however you like........just a free thinking mans opinion.

I ran the site this way long before we ever accepted advertisers. The precursor to it (not diesel-related) was operated the same way all the way back to about 1993. I'm not a prude or anything, I just don't think that kind of thing belongs in a public forum.
I've always tried to make it into the kind of site I would like to visit. Right or wrong, that's still how I run it. I won't change that just to suit other people.
I like this site the way it is. I can look at TDS and talk to any member of my family or any of their friends at the same time. Some sites I prefer to be in the room alone with the doors locked. I rarely visit them.

By all means, sexy images- gutter language- outright defamation of ones character DOES NOT belong here.
BUT, one of the things that drew myself and others was the relaxed, humurous corner watering hole atmosphere of old.
We COULD tell a good joke and most censored ourselves.
Being rational thinking adults who work and drive a diesel truck CAN read between the lines and find the intended humor.

Would you like to visit a place which has such a sterile,
almost emotionless feel to it?
If you really want to run this with no emotion, no humor etc....... then why not just purge ALL non diesel related topics and impliment a standing rule....
Post your problem succient and to the point and answer as well......no story to relate how it happend or whitty emoticon/smiley replys.
Make the post a septic as a hemmoroid cream instruction sheet
That'll bring in the new guys, and show the chronic posters here how it should be done.
And by the way, you may as well rid youself of that albatross 6.0 section that is nothing but a *****ing board
that breeds nothing but contempt
Jason I'm not argueing nor trying to make you the diesel/smut site host........
Times and attitudes here have CHANGED and not for the better.
Just trying to explain through different eyes.

My argument though is that it has changed for the better. You obviously see it differently. My sole source for knowing how the site is doing is traffic levels, posts per day, and new users per day. Those go up every month. That is all objective data rather than what someone thinks is happening.
In all honesty, how much of the increased traffic is due to the acute problems of the 6.0L and people looking for answers? Although the 6.0L forum may sound like a bunch of guys griping at each other, it is really just a lot of frustrated new owners wondering what they got themselves into. Yes, there are those that say they haven't had a problem (yet) but, the animosity as I see it is from those who bleed Ford blue jumping on the people who are at wits end with the problems they have with this new engine.
In other words, is the increase on this site primarily because of it's editorial direction or because it happens to come up high on the search engine list when you type in Ford 6.0L + problems? Just wondering.
And as I've said before, and will say again, this site has the absolute best expertise when it comes to getting questions answered about a Ford diesel (and a lot of other vehicles for that matter). Since this is not a site that employees Ford mechanics, that expertise of course comes from the members. Just something for everyone to keep in mind.

I don't think it matters where the traffic is coming from as long as it is still coming. That's the purpose of the site, to help people with problems with their diesel trucks. I'm not sure why you are implying that is a bad thing. I think some of you lose sight of that once you get what you want from the truck part of the site.

I didn't mean to imply that it was a bad thing. I was just giving credit, where credit was due.

You must not have checked the 7.3 forums they are used as much or more than the 6.0 forums and the expertise there is greater, probably because of the time that engine has been out. As far as animosity and jumping on people bothering you..............
